In addition to an annual assembly…
Area 72 holds several service events: pre-assemblies, pre-conferences, quarterly area committee and service committee meetings. See details for these events below. See the events calendar here.
Area 72 Assembly
Any meeting of G.S.R.s and the area committee is an assembly. The Area 72 assembly is held annually on the first weekend in October. The assembly is currently a three day event. Workshop panels are scheduled on Fridays. Saturday is an all-day business meeting which includes reports from area committee members, a sharing session, and discussion and voting on old and new business motions.
Pre-Assemblies
The Western Washington Area 72 holds several regional pre-assemblies each year prior to the area assembly. The pre-assembly gives GSRs and opportunity to discuss and understand the motions on the agenda for the up-coming area assembly. Pre-assemblies are usually held in August, with several districts in a geographic region of the area gathering in a common location.
Area 72 Committee Quarterlies
The area committee meets quarterly, in January, April and July, with attendance at the area assembly counting as the fourth meeting. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the business of the area, have sharing sessions, give reports, and formulate and approve motions to be added to the agenda of the up-coming area assembly.
Pre-Conferences
Each year in April, our delegate represents Western Washington Area 72 at the General Service Conference in New York. Area 72 holds several regional pre-conferences prior to the General Service Conference to give groups the opportunity to become informed about items on the agenda for the conference. Pre-conferences are usually held in March, with several districts in a geographic region of the area gathering in a common location.
Service Committee Quarterlies
Each of the area committee standing or steering chairs hold quarterly committee meetings. These meetings serve as a communication link for those involved in their area of service.
Refer to the Area Handbook and your Service Manual for more information on the Area Committee structure.
