Western Washington area 72 is part of the General Service Conference structure of A.A. Area 72 covers the state of Washington west of the cascade mountains. An area may be an entire state or province, or only part of a state or province, or in some cases parts of more than one state or province, depending on the size and needs of the A.A. population. About General Service
The area holds an important middle position in the Conference structure - through the elected delegate, it participates in A.A. worldwide, while through the district committee members (D.C.M.s) and group service representatives (G.S.R.s), it is close to the local scene.
Districts
Western Washington area 72 is currently divided into 41 districts. A district is a geographical unit containing groups. Each group has a group service representative (G.S.R.).
Committees
Like any other A.A. service, the primary purpose of those involved in area service committees is to carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Area Events
Area 72 holds many service events: an annual assembly, pre-assemblies, pre-conferences, quarterly area committee meetings and standing service committee meetings.
Service Positions
The area committee is composed of D.C.M.s, officers, and area service committee chairs.
